Pennsylvania Payday Loans
Borrowers that want to take out a cash advance loan in Pennsylvania are not able to do it. Pennsylvania is one of 14 states that expressly prohibits payday lending and similar cash advance practices. The state views the fees and interest rates associated with these companies as illegal. The thought behind this ruling is spelled out in the Check Cashing Licensing Act of 1998. Further information regarding lending practices in the state are available in the Consumer Discount Company Act. Though cash advance companies, like those in Lancaster and Pittsburgh, would certainly like to see this ruling reversed, there is no new pending legislation.
